Associate

Sagorika (Rika) Platel is an Associate in our Employment Law department.

Sagorika graduated from Monash University with a Master of Laws (Juris Doctor) and was admitted to practice in Victoria in 2014.

Having worked in both boutique and top tier firms, Sagorika has been recognised as having a keen mind for litigation strategy and a specialist in all aspects of employment and industrial relations law.

Sagorika is pragmatic in her approach to legal disputes as she is able to draw on her experience working on both sides of the fence, namely, representing employers and employees. This insight is crucial to presenting realistic solutions and risk based advice.

As an employment and industrial relations lawyer, Sagorika has experience in:

• Representing clients in the Fair Work Commission, Federal Circuit Court and Federal Court;
• Advice on all aspects of employment law including restraint of trade disputes and disciplinary matters;
• Preparing enterprise agreements;
• Preparing and reviewing employment contracts;
• Drafting Applications and Responses for or against Unfair Dismissal or General Protections matters;
• Workplace policy review;

Sagorika has a diverse cultural background having grown up both in Asia and Europe. She speaks French, Thai and Spanish.

When Sagorika is not sparring over legal concepts, Sagorika is an adventure sport enthusiast and enjoying everything from rock climbing to backcountry snowboarding.
