Stanley Drummond is a Partner who specialises in superannuation, managed funds, life and general insurance, financial planning and financial services regulation.Â
Stanley’s expertise in these fields is based on his previous roles as an in-house lawyer at St George Bank and GE Money and Vero Insurance.Â
Stanley has worked extensively in financial services regulation since 2002, when the current Corporations Act Chapter 7 commenced. Â
He has extensive and diverse experience in responding to ASIC and APRA enforcement proceedings, investigations, notices, examinations and enquiries.Â

He is a prolific author on superannuation, insurance and other financial services topics, with articles frequently appearing in the LexisNexis Superannuation Law Bulletin, the Insurance Law Bulletin and the Insurance Law Journal. He is a co-author of Thomson Reuters Mann’s Annotated Insurance Contracts Act and Mann’s Annotated Insurance Law, for which he has written detailed commentaries on the obligation to provide financial services “efficiently, honestly and fairly” in the Corporations Act and the unfair contract terms regime in the Australian Securities and Investments Commission Act, as well as a complete commentary on the Life Insurance Act. His article “What is insurance?” is on the reading list for university students studying insurance law.Â
He is a member of the Editorial Boards of the LexisNexis Superannuation Law Bulletin and Insurance Law Bulletin.
In 2021 he was awarded the AILA Insurance Law Prize. This is an annual prize which recognises “a person who has made a substantial contribution to the Insurance industry or to insurance law”.Â
